Part 3, The Purpose of Salisbury, part 3

GROUP LIFE QUESTIONS-  Purpose 2012   Giving Back

Take the time to read through 1 Corinthians 12 as a group.  Highlight any special differences in the wording of translations.

Scott emphasized 5 points as he worked us through the text.  Let’s revisit those.

1. Variety   vs 4-6

What’s your favorite color?  (did you hear variety?)

Describe your favorite flower?   Don’t let them just name it  (more variety?)

Favorite vacation location?  (more variety even yet?)

How amazing that God built that same appreciation for variety into ministry design…

2.  Everyone included     vs 7

-Let’s go around the room and mention ministry contributions that we have seen from each other

-Paul calls that “manifestation of the Spirit,”             That’s how He shows up through you!

-Did you notice in that verse who benefits?    (common good, we all do)

THESE NEXT TWO FLOW OUT OF THE DAMAGING PRACTICE OF COMPARISON.

3.  No inferiority    vs 15-18

Tell us about a time that you had gift envy or felt as if your contribution to ministry wasn’t as big a deal compared to someone else.

4. No superiority   vs 21

This is a blast of pride.  Any confessions about feeling you mattered more than another?

5. He places us.  Vs 11

Comparison usually takes us to deflation of ourselves or pride.  Neither are appropriate.  Remember how we ended up where we are?
